It is usually my most productive season as well. Trying to wrap everything up before winter comes in.
I've been trying to paint more and working hard on wrapping up a big freelance project and finally getting to design my own website. I feel inspired and ready to get lots done in the next few months.

Today I had the opportunity to do a photo shoot with a wonderful family. I had forgotten how much I love it. I can't wait to get back outside and shoot some more. Preview of the shoot coming soon.

Work in Progress

It's been a super productive week. Working full-speed on projects at work then coming home to my office for a few hours of freelance design work and ending the night with a bit of painting (on the other side of my office). My space will be in need of a major clean up this weekend.

I broke the oils out last weekend. It had been almost a year since I last used them, and I haven't been able to keep out of them. Just the smell of the oils makes me feel more creative. I've been experimenting with color, trying out new canvas sizes and finishing up a long overdue commission piece. I repainted the canvas hanging over our bed, but have now decided it would go better in my at work office. Let's hope my office mate agrees. Ooo.. and last weekend I scored two large canvases on sale that will be used for a piece for the in-laws.

I'll post detailed photos in the coming weeks as I have more finished.

Custom Artwork

I have been asked many times to create custom artwork. Below is a piece I finished last summer for a lady at my home church. I really enjoy creating pieces for others to be able to enjoy in their homes. I was able to incorporate textures and colors from the room it would be used in.

The one above has hung in my living room since the show. I love it. I was really glad that it didn't sell at my show so I could keep it for myself. The one below is one I really really struggled with. If I remember right, it was one of the last ones I worked on before the show.

Lately...

... I have had quite a few people asking me about my paintings over the last two weeks. Since I don't have a website (yet), I'll be posting my paintings on this blog. If you see something you would like to purchase, feel free to contact me. I'll try to be sure to post which ones are available. I have also done quite a few commissions. I'll post next week about some I've done.

The above painting is from my senior show. I can't believe that was three years ago already! Three weeks ago I was cleaning my office and found my guest book from the show and reminded of why I love painting so much. I'm so glad I've kept that book and made it special. It gives me so much encouragement and really inspired me to start painting again.
